Shabazz Loss to West Orange Headlines Week of Upheaval in New Jersey Super 25

West Orange, Ramapo and Brick Memorial entered the New Jersey Super 25 rankings after a week of upsets, while St. Augustine climbed to No. 2.

A week filled with upsets reshaped the New Jersey Super 25 high school football rankings, with West Orange, Ramapo and Brick Memorial all entering the Top 25. West Orange came in at No. 23 after a 13-6 victory over then-No. 6 Shabazz on Sept. 18, the Bulldogs' first regular-season defeat against a public school since October 2024. Quarterback Daniel Lewis ran for 118 yards and connected with Sydney Padilla on a 28-yard touchdown in the win.

Ramapo, which opened its season by beating West Orange by one point on Aug. 27, entered the rankings at No. 18 following a 34-20 road victory at Union City. Brick Memorial claimed the No. 25 slot after a 24-14 win against then-No. 25 Toms River North, powered by senior running back Colin Schoellkopf's career-best 212 rushing yards and two touchdowns.

Undefeated St. Augustine (4-0) rose to No. 2 after previous No. 2 St. Peter's Prep fell to Bergen Catholic. The rankings, voted on weekly by USA TODAY NETWORK New Jersey voters, are published each Tuesday morning.

Three games between ranked teams are on the schedule this week: No. 3 St. Joseph (Montvale) visits No. 1 Don Bosco, No. 2 St. Augustine travels to No. 17 Millville, and No. 11 Wayne Hills plays at No. 5 Old Tappan.
