Report outlines four roster fixes for Steelers after slow start

A Yahoo Sports analysis lists four moves Pittsburgh could make to turn around its early-season struggles, including a veteran wide receiver signing.

The Pittsburgh Steelers have opened the 2026 season with a disappointing record, with their lone win coming against an Atlanta Falcons team that nearly beat them, according to a Yahoo Sports analysis published Tuesday.

The report suggests four changes. First, it recommends returning offensive tackles Troy Fautanu and Dylan Cook to the positions they played in 2025, right and left tackle respectively, after both struggled following a swap ordered by coach Mike McCarthy.

Second, it urges the team to resolve contract issues with cornerback Joey Porter Jr. and get him back on the field, arguing the defense has shown flashes of greatness that would be limited without him.

Third, the analysis calls for signing a veteran wide receiver such as Curtis Samuel or Tyreek Hill while Michael Pittman Jr. is injured and DK Metcalf underproduces. Hill, who suffered a serious leg injury in 2025, is reportedly targeting an October return.

Finally, the report says Pittsburgh should add an offensive lineman, listing Taylor Decker, Cam Robinson, Jonah Williams, Mekhi Becton, Kevin Zeitler and James Daniels as possible targets.
