Pedro Acosta Takes First MotoGP Win as KTM Triumphs at Austrian Grand Prix

Pedro Acosta converted 15 prior premier-class podiums into a maiden MotoGP victory at the Red Bull Ring, delivering KTM its first win since 2022 on home soil.

Pedro Acosta claimed the first MotoGP victory of his career at the Austrian Grand Prix, winning at the Red Bull Ring in his 15th premier-class round of podium finishes. The result also gave KTM its first win since 2022 at the Austrian manufacturer's home event.

Jorge Martin, who won Saturday's sprint for Aprilia, led early ahead of teammate Marco Bezzecchi and Trackhouse's Ai Ogura. Acosta started by getting past Ducati's Marc Marquez off the line, passed Bezzecchi on lap 4 and took the lead from Martin on lap 9 before crossing the line just over a second clear.

Aprilia completed the podium, with Martin 0.192 seconds ahead of Bezzecchi at the finish. Martin's second place extended his championship lead over Marquez, who finished fifth and 7.339 seconds behind, to 12 points. Bezzecchi sits third, 42 points off the lead, heading into the next round in Japan.

Brad Binder took sixth for Red Bull KTM, his best result of the season, while Francesco Bagnaia was seventh. Fermin Aldeguer finished eighth after a three-second penalty for not completing a Long Lap Penalty.

KTM motorsports director Pit Beirer said the victory came after a difficult period for the company, adding that recent podiums at Aragon and Misano had set up the home win. Acosta thanked fans and his team for their support following his error in Saturday's sprint.
