Albertus Magnus Shuts Out Ursuline 4-0 to Highlight Girls Soccer Week

Katie Murphy led Albertus Magnus with a goal and an assist in a 4-0 win over Ursuline as the Section 1 girls soccer season continues with a full week of matchups.

Katie Murphy finished with a goal and an assist as Albertus Magnus defeated Ursuline 4-0 on Monday, Sept. 21. Nyla Estella and Avery Portuondo also found the net, while Sofia Caraballo and Natasha Ignatiou recorded assists. Finley Krokus kept the clean sheet in goal for Albertus Magnus.

Roosevelt was scheduled to visit Hamilton at 4:30 p.m. Monday to close out the day's slate.

Tuesday brings a heavy schedule, including Byram Hills at Rye Neck (4:30 p.m.), Pearl River at North Rockland, Valhalla at Putnam Valley, Pelham at Rye, Brewster at Carmel, Peekskill at Haldane and Leffell School at Tuckahoe, all at 5 p.m. New Rochelle travels to Ketcham for a 5:30 p.m. start.

The week also features a Hispanic Heritage/Latinx Showcase at Torpy Field on Friday and Saturday. Friday's showcase games include Mamaroneck against Carmel at 4 p.m. and Spring Valley at Peekskill at 8 p.m. Saturday's slate there includes Brewster versus Sleepy Hollow at 10 a.m., New Rochelle against Nyack at 2 p.m. and Ramapo at Peekskill at 6 p.m.

Other notable weekend games include Paul VI of New Jersey visiting Albertus Magnus on Saturday at 4 p.m., plus a Bronxville tournament on Saturday with a consolation game at 12:30 p.m. and the championship at 4 p.m. No games are scheduled for Sunday, Sept. 27.
