Army visits Temple on Friday looking to move past South Florida collapse

After blowing a late 10-point lead against the Bulls, the Black Knights open a seven-game stretch against the Owls at Lincoln Financial Field.

Army heads to Philadelphia on Friday, Sept. 25 to face Temple at Lincoln Financial Field, with kickoff set for 4 p.m. ET on ESPN. Clay Matvick will call the play-by-play alongside analyst Rocky Boiman.

The Black Knights enter the game at 1-1. They opened the season by hammering Bryant 59-3 on Sept. 5, then lost 28-24 to South Florida at Michie Stadium on Sept. 12 despite leading by 10 in the final minutes. The Bulls scored twice in the last 3:13, including the winning touchdown with 19 seconds remaining.

An open date followed the loss, which coach Jeff Monken viewed as a chance for players to recover from a physical stretch that included a month of preseason camp. He also stressed the need to correct mistakes while crediting players for what they did well.

Army is listed as a three-point favorite. The game opens a run of seven straight weeks with a game for the Black Knights, ending with the Air Force matchup on Nov. 7 — unusually, with no bye before it.
