Adeyemi Joins Germany Camp Early After Karl Injury Adjustment

Barcelona forward Karim Adeyemi has been moved into Germany's first squad group under Jurgen Klopp and is set to face the Netherlands and Greece in UEFA Nations League play.

Karim Adeyemi has linked up with the Germany national team ahead of schedule, according to SPORT. The Barcelona forward was originally slated to report for the later fixtures of the international break but instead traveled to join the camp from its first day.

New Germany head coach Jurgen Klopp named an extended pool of 44 players split into two groups, one for the opening two matches and one for the following pair. Adeyemi initially belonged to the second group, but a muscle issue for Bayern Munich's Lennart Karl prompted a reshuffle. As a precaution, Karl was shifted to the second group, with Adeyemi promoted into the first.

Germany open their UEFA Nations League campaign away to the Netherlands on Thursday before hosting Greece on Sunday. Adeyemi is expected to be involved in both matches, though it is unclear whether he will also feature in the subsequent fixtures at home to Serbia and away to Greece.

The call-up marks a turnaround for the forward, whose final season at Borussia Dortmund disappointed and ended with omission from the World Cup squad. He has since made a strong start following his summer move to Barcelona.
