Robinson Reaches 4,000 Rushing Yards as Falcons Fall to 0-2

The running back hit the career milestone in his 53rd game, but Atlanta's offense is averaging just eight points per contest.

Atlanta Falcons running back Bijan Robinson surpassed 4,000 career rushing yards in his 53rd game, one of the fastest reaches of that mark in NFL history. The milestone came amid a difficult start to the season for Atlanta, which fell to 0-2.

The Falcons currently own the league's worst scoring offense at eight points per game. In the loss to the Carolina Panthers, Robinson rushed for 72 yards on 4.5 yards per carry and added nine yards on three receptions, producing despite limited help from the offensive line.

Atlanta lost to Carolina 34-3, a game that exposed problems at quarterback. Starter Cooper Rush lost a fumble on the opening play, threw an interception, and later tossed a pick-six before being replaced by rookie Jack Strand, whose first pass was also intercepted and returned for a touchdown.

It marked the second straight week a Falcons quarterback threw a pick-six. Neither passer recorded a touchdown pass, and the offense never reached the red zone.

Head coach Kevin Stefanski said afterward that he was "extremely disappointed" with how the game began. The defense kept the game close early but wore down as turnovers repeatedly put the unit back on the field.
