Gabbiadini: Confidence Is Key for Sunderland's Brobbey After City Hat-Trick

Former Sunderland striker Marco Gabbiadini believes Brian Brobbey can keep scoring if he builds on the confidence from his hat-trick against Manchester City.

Brian Brobbey scored three times for Sunderland against Manchester City on Sunday, though the Black Cats still lost the Premier League match. The Dutch forward had gone without a goal in his first four appearances of the season before the breakthrough.

Former Sunderland striker Marco Gabbiadini, speaking to BBC Radio Newcastle, said the goals were not spectacular but showed good finishing and smart positioning. He noted there had been plenty of discussion about Brobbey's goal output and pointed to the player's record of scoring regularly in his best periods.

Gabbiadini added that Brobbey may need to trust his shooting more and produce the occasional goal from nothing. The 24-year-old scored seven Premier League goals last season and was part of the Netherlands squad at the World Cup over the summer.
