Yahoo Sports
The short version
- Giants lost 28-6 to the Rams in Week 2
- Jaxson Dart left with a knee injury and is out at least 2-4 weeks
- Jameis Winston replaced Dart and had a poor game
- Cam Skattebo said a full week with Winston will make 'a different story'
Cam Skattebo says a full week of practice with Jameis Winston will change the picture after Jaxson Dart's knee injury against the Rams.
The New York Giants dropped to a loss in Week 2, falling 28-6 to the Los Angeles Rams, but the result was overshadowed by a knee injury to starting quarterback Jaxson Dart. Veteran Jameis Winston replaced him and struggled in the defeat.
After the game, running back Cam Skattebo said the injury should not derail the team and backed Winston to improve with more preparation time. According to the report, Dart is expected to miss at least two to four weeks.
"We put our full trust in Jameis, and he's got a situation where he's been in this league for a long time," Skattebo said. "When we get a whole week to prepare with him and get comfortable with him... I think it's going to be a different story."
The report noted that Winston's style differs from Dart's, with Dart offering more athleticism while Winston operates primarily as a pocket passer. That shift will require adjustments across the Giants' offense while Dart is sidelined.
