Carolina Chaos keep goalie Blaze Riorden through 2029

The five-time Oren Lyons Goalie of the Year signed a three-year contract extension to remain with the Chaos.

The Carolina Chaos have re-signed goaltender Blaze Riorden to a three-year contract that runs through 2029, the Premier Lacrosse League club announced Tuesday.

Riorden, 32, completed his eighth season with Carolina in 2026, averaging 12.9 saves per game and reaching double-digit saves on nine occasions. He was a finalist for Goalie of the Year. A five-time winner of the Oren Lyons Award, he was named PLL Most Valuable Player in 2021 while leading the Chaos to a championship, and he set the league's single-game record with 25 saves in 2025.

General manager Spencer Ford praised the Fairport, New York, native, saying Riorden remains one of the best goalies the game has seen and still has plenty left to give. Ford also pushed back on unrealistic expectations, noting that Riorden is sometimes judged harshly when he does not post huge save totals.

The deal comes after a difficult season for Carolina, which finished last in the league in scoring with 129 goals and in faceoff percentage at 35 percent. The Chaos defense allowed 12.4 goals per game, the third-worst figure in the league.

Riorden, heading into his 12th professional season, will continue to anchor the Carolina defense under the new agreement.
