Miami Tops ACC Power Rankings After Week 3; Louisville Win Over SMU Shakes Race

Miami sits atop Yahoo Sports' conference rankings after a 33-20 road win at Wake Forest on Friday night, with quarterback Darian Mensah drawing praise for his accuracy. Louisville moved up to No. 2 following a 41-31 home win over SMU, though the Cardinals committed 11 penalties in the game. SMU slipped to No. 3, and because the head-to-head loss went to a fellow ACC contender, the Mustangs would lose a tiebreaker with Louisville.

Duke holds the No. 4 spot behind running back Nate Sheppard, who posted 156 total yards and three touchdowns against Stanford. Pitt, at No. 5, improved to 3-0 with a 27-13 Thursday-night win over Syracuse despite missing running back Ja'Kyrian Turner.

Virginia Tech landed at No. 6 after quarterback Ethan Grunkemeyer threw for 314 yards and three touchdowns in a 35-26 win at Maryland. Virginia fell the furthest of any ACC team, dropping to No. 7 after a non-conference loss to West Virginia that will not affect the Cavaliers' conference standing.

Clemson came in at No. 8 after rallying past North Carolina in a game interrupted by a roughly two-and-a-half-hour lightning delay. Cal was No. 9 after a 49-7 win over Wagner with Jaron Keawe-Sagapolutele passing for over 400 yards, and Wake Forest rounded out the list at No. 10 after its loss to Miami.
