The Indianapolis Colts slid in most Week 3 NFL power rankings after falling to 0-2 with an overtime loss to the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday night. Placements varied widely, from No. 16 at SI.com to No. 25 at USA Today and CBS Sports.

Defense was the common concern. Nate Davis of USA Today called it the league's worst by several metrics, while Ralph Vacchiano of Fox Sports noted the Colts have allowed 1,023 total yards through two games. Kris Knox of Bleacher Report pointed to Lou Anarumo's unit as a major liability.

Not every assessment was negative. Conor Orr of SI.com, ranking Indianapolis 16th, said the loss to Kansas City actually increased his confidence, citing a steady running game and a difficult early schedule against Baltimore and the Chiefs.

Quarterback play drew some praise despite the record. ESPN's Stephen Holder wrote that Jones has mostly done his part, completing 66.1% of his passes while coming back from a healed Achilles tear. Yahoo's Frank Schwab, at No. 21, focused on pressure coach Shane Steichen faces after an 0-2 start.

The analysts largely flagged Sunday's game against the also-winless Houston Texans as pivotal. Davis suggested it could amount to an early playoff elimination game, with Knox adding that the defense must improve to avoid an 0-3 start.
