Colts WR Alec Pierce Expected to Sit Multiple Weeks With Heel Injury

Indianapolis wide receiver Alec Pierce is expected to miss multiple weeks while rehabbing an aggravated left heel injury, and the Colts have signed Darius Slayton.

Indianapolis Colts wide receiver Alec Pierce aggravated a left heel injury during Sunday night's defeat against the Kansas City Chiefs and is expected to be sidelined for multiple weeks as he works through rehabilitation, a source told the Indianapolis Star on Monday night.

Pierce's goal in rehabbing is to avoid a second operation on his left leg. He had surgery in late March to address a bone issue that had been causing ankle pain.

The wideout signed a four-year, $114 million deal as a free agent last March, largely on the strength of his deep-threat ability. Over the past two seasons, he has 84 receptions at an average of 21.75 yards per catch, production the source compared to what DeSean Jackson once delivered.
