Morgan Wallen Merch Fuels Talk of College GameDay Guest Picker Role

A Tennessee-Texas shirt on Morgan Wallen's website has fans speculating he will serve as College GameDay's guest picker in Knoxville.

ESPN's College GameDay has not named a guest picker for this week's show ahead of Tennessee's home game against Texas, but a new item on Morgan Wallen's website has stirred speculation that the Knoxville native could fill the role.

Wallen's site is selling a Tennessee vs. Texas shirt dated Sept. 26. It is available only as a pre-order, with shipping listed as beginning Sept. 25. Other names mentioned as possibilities include Candace Parker, Leanne Morgan, Peyton Manning, and Kenny Chesney, who served as guest picker in 2012.

Wallen has deep ties to the university and city. He played two sold-out concerts at Neyland Stadium in fall 2024, a venue rarely used for music, and has referenced Tennessee football in his songs.

Country artists have taken the guest picker spot before. Lainey Wilson, a Louisiana native, handled the duties for LSU's Sept. 5 opener against Clemson, and Jelly Roll was the picker for a Georgia-Ole Miss game in 2025.

GameDay airs Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon ET on ESPN and ESPNU, with the first two hours on the Ayers Hall lawn and the final hour inside Neyland Stadium. Tennessee's game against Texas kicks off at noon ET on ABC.
