Oregon's McClellan Out Indefinitely With Broken Foot Ahead of USC Matchup

Ducks coach Dan Lanning said wide receiver Jeremiah McClellan broke his foot in warmups, while several other injured Oregon players are nearing returns before Saturday's game at USC.

Oregon coach Dan Lanning told reporters on Sept. 21 that wide receiver Jeremiah McClellan broke his foot during pregame warmups before the Portland State game on Sept. 18 and will be out indefinitely. "Fortunately, he's a tough guy and certainly somebody we relied on and will rely on in the future," Lanning said.

The news was more encouraging elsewhere. Tight end Jamari Johnson, a preseason All-American, has returned to practice after missing games against Oklahoma State and Portland State. Reserve tight end Kendre Harrison is also improving after a late injury scare against Portland State, and defensive back Carl Williams IV is back at practice following a scary goal-line collision in the Oklahoma State game.

Five-star freshman Jalen Lott has resumed practicing but is unlikely to play against USC, according to Lanning. The Ducks (2-1) travel to Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum on Saturday, Sept. 26 to face the No. 4-0-ranked Trojans.

Lanning, who is 2-0 against USC in his tenure, called the rivalry "as intense as it gets" and said Oregon has won eight of the last 10 meetings between the schools dating to 2009.

He also praised Trojans quarterback Jayden Maiava, who has thrown 12 touchdowns against one interception this season. Maiava threw for 330 yards and four touchdowns in Oregon's 42-27 win last November, and Lanning said his defense must play with better eye discipline and avoid pass interference calls this time around.
