Portnoy, Caleb Williams trade barbs over injury reaction

The Barstool founder said Williams spread misinformation after the Bears quarterback reposted a criticism of him following Sunday's loss to Minnesota.

Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy said Tuesday that Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams spread misinformation about him, extending a back-and-forth that began with Portnoy's comments about the quarterback's injury reaction.

Williams went down with a non-contact injury late in Sunday's 9-3 loss to the Minnesota Vikings. Reports indicate the second-year quarterback avoided a serious injury and could return to the field soon.

Portnoy had questioned Williams' toughness during remarks on Wake Up Barstool. Williams later reposted a post alleging Portnoy "had a kid arrested and expelled from school for throwing pennies at him."

In response, Portnoy wrote that he would not hold the episode against the quarterback, adding that Williams was emotional after tweaking his hamstring and that he is rooting for him and the city of Chicago.
