Washington QB Demond Williams Jr. throws four first-half TDs in rout of Eastern Washington

Williams matched his career best with four touchdown passes by halftime as the Huskies rolled past EWU 48-16 on Saturday night.

Washington quarterback Demond Williams Jr. put together the best performance of his career on Saturday night, leading the Huskies past Eastern Washington 48-16. The junior completed a run of four touchdown passes before intermission, matching the career high he established in December's LA Bowl against Boise State.

Williams finished with 373 yards through the air plus 33 on the ground. According to the school's records, no Washington quarterback had thrown four touchdown passes in a single half since Michael Penix Jr. did so against Michigan State in 2023.

His receivers delivered career nights across the board. Sophomore Dezmen Roebuck posted personal bests with nine catches for 121 yards, Rashid Williams hauled in six receptions for 86 yards and two first-half scores, and Chris Lawson reached the end zone for the first time on the opening drive. Freshmen Trez Davis and Jordan Clay also scored their first career touchdowns.

Tight end Baron Naone gained 103 yards on two catches, though a 75-yard grab was overturned to the 1-yard line on review after initially being called a score. Coach Jedd Fisch said afterward that Naone's first comment was that he needed to work with strength and conditioning coach Tyler Owens to get faster.

Entering the game, Williams had thrown just one touchdown pass all season, against Washington State in the opener. Washington opens Big Ten play in Week Four against a Minnesota defense allowing only 143 passing yards per contest.
