Sirianni points to negative plays as area Eagles must fix despite unbeaten start

The Philadelphia Eagles enter the week unbeaten at 2-0, yet one issue on offense has drawn attention from head coach Nick Sirianni. Across the opening two games, the team has recorded 18 negative plays, and Sirianni addressed the problem at his Monday press conference.

According to Sirianni, the setbacks come from several sources rather than a single fixable flaw. He cited lost-yardage runs, penalties and sacks, noting that three sacks occurred in Sunday's game, two of them near the line of scrimmage on scramble plays. He added that breakdowns in protection, receivers failing to get open and quarterback decisions all can contribute.

Sirianni emphasized that every play is reviewed individually to determine whether it succeeded or failed and why. The common thread, he explained, is that any lost yardage forces an offense to regain ground, making long drives far more difficult — whether the cause is a sack, a penalty, a dropped pass or an errant throw.

For now, Philadelphia's talent has been enough to win twice despite the inconsistent offensive stretches. Still, Sirianni made clear that reducing self-inflicted losses remains a priority, and correcting the trend should make upcoming games easier for the Eagles.
