Colts Add Receiver Darius Slayton, Reuniting Him with Daniel Jones

Indianapolis is bringing in the former Giants wideout after Alec Pierce's heel injury flared up, pairing him with his old quarterback.

Wide receiver Darius Slayton has agreed to a deal with the Indianapolis Colts, according to Tom Pelissero of The Ringer. The move addresses a need at the position after Alec Pierce aggravated a heel injury during Sunday's defeat against Kansas City.

Slayton and Colts quarterback Daniel Jones entered the NFL together in the 2019 draft, with New York taking Jones in the first round and Slayton in the fifth. Over seven seasons with the Giants, Slayton compiled 296 catches for 4,435 yards and 22 touchdowns, and he topped the team in receiving yards four times in his first five years. His career average of 15.0 yards per catch reflects the downfield role he filled.

New York cut Slayton on September 7 after he had core-muscle surgery during the offseason. He joins a Colts receiving corps that also added Keenan Allen late in the offseason, and he gives Jones a familiar target while Pierce recovers.

Indianapolis and the Giants are scheduled to meet in Week 12.
