- Leo Chenal made 12 tackles in Week 2 starting in place of the injured Frankie Luvu.
- Chuck Clark has an interception and 11 tackles over the first two weeks for Detroit.
- Marques Sigle played 59 defensive snaps in Week 2 despite not being a listed starter.
Defensive players worth adding on waivers heading into Week 3 include Green Bay's Lukas Van Ness, Seattle's Drake Thomas and Detroit's Chuck Clark.
Several individual defensive players have produced at a high level through the first two weeks and remain available in many fantasy leagues. Green Bay edge rusher Lukas Van Ness has 2.5 sacks and 14 total tackles on the season, including 10 stops in Week 2. Seattle defensive end Leonard Williams, 32, has a sack in each game to go with four tackles in Week 1 and six in Week 2, working off the edge in the Seahawks' 3-4 scheme despite his 310-pound frame.
At linebacker, Dallas's Dee Winters stepped up with nine tackles, seven of them solo, plus a fumble recovery in Week 2 while DeMarvion Overshown sat out with a hamstring injury. Overshown is questionable for Week 3. Washington's Leo Chenal filled in for the injured Frankie Luvu in Week 2 and delivered 12 total tackles after a quiet opener, making him a speculative add if Luvu remains sidelined.
Seattle's Drake Thomas, in his fourth season out of NC State, has been steady with nine tackles and a sack in Week 1 followed by seven tackles in Week 2, though Seattle's overall defensive depth could lead to uneven fantasy output.
In the secondary, Detroit safety Chuck Clark has been productive with three tackles and an interception in Week 1 and 11 tackles in Week 2. San Francisco safety Marques Sigle, not a listed starter in the 49ers' rotation, still played the most defensive snaps on the team in Week 2 with 59, adding seven tackles and a sack after nine tackles in Week 1.
