Ferran Torres Thrives at PSG but Says Goodbye to Barcelona Was Hard

The Spain forward has seven goals in six games since his summer move to Paris Saint-Germain, though he admits adjusting off the pitch has been tough.

Ferran Torres has hit the ground running at Paris Saint-Germain following his summer departure from Barcelona, with seven goals across his first six appearances under Luis Enrique. The 26-year-old Spain international has settled quickly in footballing terms, but he acknowledged that life away from the game has presented the greater adjustment.

Relocating to France required the forward to give up his familiar surroundings, take on a new language and rebuild his everyday routine. Torres described the abruptness of the switch as the toughest element, saying that one day he was at Barcelona and the next he was preparing to leave, before joking that Pedri was the one teammate he could not bring along.

Despite the change of scenery, Torres is surrounded by people he knows in Paris. Alongside Luis Enrique, whose staff he regards highly and whom he calls his footballing father, the dressing room also includes Fabian Ruiz and former Barcelona youth product Pedro Dro Fernandez.

The Ballon d'Or has also been a topic around the player, one of six Spaniards among the 30 nominees alongside Lamine Yamal, Pau Cubarsi, Marc Cucurella, Rodri and Fabian Ruiz. Torres declined to back any individual for the honor, saying the choice rests with the voters, while adding that it would be a bonus if a Spaniard won it.
