Gruden raises durability concerns after another Daniels injury

Former Washington head coach Jay Gruden says Jayden Daniels' slender frame remains a real worry after the quarterback left Sunday's loss to Dallas.

Former NFL head coach Jay Gruden said Monday that Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels continues to face durability concerns after leaving Sunday's game against the Dallas Cowboys with an injury.

Daniels weighed in at 210 pounds at his LSU Pro Day in March 2024, and Gruden told Grant & Danny on 106.7 the Fan that the quarterback's lean frame was a known issue coming out of college. Sunday marked the fifth game Daniels has not finished.

"Are you going to give this guy the franchise keys to the car and you're not sure he can play more than four games a year?" Gruden said.

Gruden noted the latest injury did not come from a big hit, saying Daniels simply fell and landed awkwardly. He added that once the quarterback is healthy, the team should put him back on the field and let him finish the season.

Commanders head coach Dan Quinn told reporters Monday that Daniels will meet with specialists this week.
