Jaxson Dart leaves Giants-Rams game with knee injury

New York's rookie quarterback was hurt on the opening series Monday night against Los Angeles and headed to the locker room for evaluation.

New York Giants quarterback Jaxson Dart suffered a knee injury on the team's opening possession Monday night against the Los Angeles Rams. The injury occurred on third-and-8, when Rams linebacker Byron Young struck Dart from his right side while the quarterback was under pressure. The contact drove Dart into linebacker Josaiah Stewart, who hit him low and brought him down heavily onto the turf.

Dart was able to reach the sideline on his own, though he moved with difficulty, and entered the medical tent for evaluation. He completed 3 of 5 passes for 20 yards before departing. He then walked to the locker room, and the Giants listed his return as questionable.

Jameis Winston stepped in at quarterback on New York's next drive, which followed a three-and-out by the Rams. Winston saw action in three games, including two starts, for the Giants during the 2025 season, passing for 567 yards with two touchdowns and two interceptions.

Winston, now in his 11th NFL season, entered the league as the first overall pick in 2015. He has previously played for Tampa Bay, New Orleans and Cleveland.
