Jaxson Dart Exits Giants' MNF Loss With Suspected MCL Sprain

Giants quarterback Jaxson Dart left Monday's loss to the Rams after a low hit, with an MRI scheduled to assess the damage.

New York Giants quarterback Jaxson Dart was knocked out of Monday night's 28-6 loss to the Los Angeles Rams after absorbing a low hit from defenders Byron Young and Josaiah Stewart on the team's opening offensive drive. Dart threw just five passes before departing, completing three for 20 yards.

Initial X-rays showed no fracture, and early evaluations pointed to a sprained MCL. Dart is set for an MRI on Tuesday once the Giants return to New York, which will determine the severity of the injury and whether there is any additional damage, including to the meniscus. MCL injuries can sideline players for multiple weeks depending on the degree of the sprain.

Cameras later showed Dart on the sideline appearing to say something that fans on social media speculated was "They wouldn't let me back out." Supporters praised his desire to re-enter the game, with some suggesting the team held him out for his own protection.

Veteran Jameis Winston replaced Dart and would likely start if the second-year quarterback misses time. New York fell to the Rams 28-6 without its starting quarterback.
