Manchester United forward Benjamin Sesko says he will miss Slovenia's upcoming matches to focus on recovering from a recurring shin injury.

Benjamin Sesko has confirmed he will miss Slovenia's upcoming internationals after the shin injury that troubled his first season at Manchester United flared up again. The 23-year-old forward announced the news in an Instagram post addressed to Slovenia supporters.

Sesko said he was sorry to miss the matches and that recovering fully is his priority, adding that he is already working toward returning to help both club and country. He has not played for Slovenia in 11 months, and that gap will now stretch to at least mid-November.

Manchester Evening News journalist Tyrone Marshall reported on Monday that tension has been building between United and the Slovenian federation over the striker's fitness.

Sesko sat out United's match against Fulham on Sunday after feeling pain following the midweek loss to Brighton. He is still waiting for his first Premier League start of the season, with manager Michael Carrick preferring Matheus Cunha in the central striking role. Cunha scored his first goal of the campaign to earn a draw at Craven Cottage.
