Analyst Robin Lundberg Questions Sophie Cunningham's WNBA Future

SiriusXM's Robin Lundberg suggested the Indiana Fever guard may not be with the team, or even in the WNBA, next season.

Indiana Fever guard Sophie Cunningham has become one of the league's most recognizable players this season, though an analyst believes her WNBA future is uncertain.

Cunningham played only seven minutes in Indiana's loss to the Washington Mystics, missing both of her shot attempts and recording no other statistical contribution.

SiriusXM's Robin Lundberg noted that Cunningham has been a productive player and a good shooter in the past, but suggested recent developments point toward a change. He predicted she will not be on the Fever roster next year and said there is a chance she is not in the WNBA at all.

Lundberg added that he believes Cunningham is preparing for a post-playing career, citing her strong popularity off the court while noting that teams do not want constant attention on a role player's comments.

Her scoring numbers this season are her lowest since 2021, and she remains a complementary piece behind Fever stars Caitlin Clark, Kelsey Mitchell and Aliyah Boston.
