Spaun Wins BMW PGA Championship, Plans More European Starts

The 2025 U.S. Open champion closed at 17 under at Wentworth and says he will build a more global fall schedule going forward.

J.J. Spaun captured the BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth, finishing the week at 17 under par. The American, who won the 2025 U.S. Open, delivered his victory on the DP World Tour's flagship stage in England.

Spaun said after the second round that he and his family vacation in the Cotswolds each mid-December, spending a couple of weeks there each winter. He added that whenever a reason comes up to visit the United Kingdom, particularly England, he tries to make the trip.

Looking ahead, Spaun said he expects to arrange a more global or European schedule in the fall, even while remaining on the PGA Tour. He praised the atmosphere around the event, calling the community and the spectators great.

The win came after a disappointing stretch for Spaun, who finished 10th on the Presidents Cup points list but was left off the American roster. He acknowledged the omission was a disappointment.

Spaun's endorsement of the European circuit comes as LIV Golf has filed for bankruptcy, a development that could push players toward new options. Jon Rahm and Tyrrell Hatton are already DP World Tour members and are likely to serve suspensions on that tour.
