Giants QB Jaxson Dart reportedly sprains MCL; MRI pending

Jaxson Dart left New York's 28-6 loss to the Rams after a hit on the opening drive, with an initial diagnosis pointing to a sprained MCL.

New York Giants quarterback Jaxson Dart exited Sunday's 28-6 loss to the Los Angeles Rams after taking a hit from two Rams linebackers on the game's opening offensive possession. The 23-year-old was unable to continue, though he reportedly wanted to return before the team held him out.

Reports from Ian Rapoport and Mike Garafolo indicate the initial diagnosis is a sprained MCL, with X-rays negative for serious damage. An MRI was scheduled for Tuesday morning to confirm the extent of the injury.

Giants coach John Harbaugh addressed the injury after the game. "We'll know more tomorrow," he said. "That's in the neighborhood of it, I would say. We will get an MRI tomorrow, get a real good feel for it, and give you more information then."

Backup Jameis Winston replaced Dart against the Rams and completed 11 of 27 passes for 111 yards with a 37.7 passer rating. He is expected to start while Dart is out, with upcoming games against the Arizona Cardinals, Washington Commanders, and New Orleans Saints.
