Javier Tebas pushed back strongly after Real Madrid cried foul over officiating in their derby defeat to Atletico Madrid.
La Liga president Javier Tebas has rejected accusations of a refereeing 'conspiracy' against Real Madrid following their 2-1 derby loss to Atletico Madrid on Sunday.
After the match, Real Madrid coach Jose Mourinho appeared at his post-match press conference with two printed screenshots of tackles by Atletico players that he believed deserved red cards.
Tebas responded on social media to a pro-Real Madrid article, arguing that the conspiracy narrative disrespects the league's other clubs. He said Real Madrid are important to La Liga, but insisted the competition belongs to no single club.
He added that claiming referees are directed against Real Madrid 'is living in another galaxy,' and suggested the narrative serves to mask the team's shortcomings early in the season.
Real Madrid have made a slow start and trail early leaders and reigning champions Barcelona by six points. Mourinho returned to the Santiago Bernabeu for a second spell in the close-season with the aim of ending a two-year run without a major trophy.
