The Swiss international says she wants to be a role model for the next generation as Liverpool launches Beyond the Goalposts in October.
Liverpool forward Aurélie Csillag says she wants to serve as a role model for young players as the club prepares to launch a new community initiative. The Swiss international recalled growing up without a role model of her own, watching only men's football and seeing few prominent black players as the women's game grew.
The program, called Beyond the Goalposts, is being run by the club's foundation and aims to create pathways and opportunities in football both on and off the pitch for black and marginalised girls and women. It plans to provide a safe, inclusive and empowering environment through sessions including educational and mentoring support in the Liverpool community.
Sessions are scheduled to begin on October 1, with registration of interest open at any time.
