Sesko and Darlow Among Four Man United Players to Exit International Duty

Manchester United saw four players leave their national teams on Monday, headlined by Benjamin Sesko's Slovenia withdrawal with a shin injury.

Manchester United forward Benjamin Sesko has withdrawn from the Slovenia squad because of a shin problem, the club confirmed Monday. The injury occurred during last week's Carabao Cup loss to Brighton and kept the 23-year-old out of Sunday's 1-1 draw at Fulham. United said medical tests are planned this week to map out his rehabilitation.

Sesko will sit out Slovenia's two Nations League fixtures with Scotland as well as matches against North Macedonia and Switzerland during the three-week break. On Instagram, he apologized to supporters and pledged to focus on recovery, adding that he is already working toward a quick return for club and country.

He was the fourth United player to step away from national-team duty on the day. Goalkeeper Karl Darlow, who was an unused substitute at Fulham, departed the Wales camp, where Craig Bellamy has also lost Leeds winger Harry Wilson to a quad injury and Wrexham striker Nathan Broadhead.

Sesko and Darlow follow Marcus Rashford and Kobbie Mainoo, both of whom were part of a five-player exodus from the England squad. Manager Michael Carrick said Rashford developed a hip issue at Craven Cottage that had troubled him over the summer, while Mainoo, who did not feature at this summer's World Cup under Thomas Tuchel, came off late in the Fulham match.
