England Weigh Training-Camp Look at Arsenal's Max Dowman After Withdrawals

Thomas Tuchel is considering adding the 16-year-old Arsenal forward to England's senior training camp after five players pulled out of the upcoming Nations League window.

England manager Thomas Tuchel is weighing whether to invite 16-year-old Arsenal forward Max Dowman to the senior training camp at St George's Park ahead of the team's Nations League fixtures, according to The Sporting News. No formal call-up has been confirmed. Dowman is currently with the England Under-19 squad, which is due to face the Republic of Ireland on Friday, September 25.

The potential opening comes after five players withdrew from the international window with fitness concerns: Declan Rice, Cole Palmer, Marcus Rashford, Kobbie Mainoo and Tino Livramento. The Football Association confirmed Monday that Everton's James Garner and Nottingham Forest's Morgan Gibbs-White have been added as replacements.

Dowman became the youngest goalscorer in Premier League history in March, finding the net against Everton at the Emirates at 16 years and 73 days old. He has scored twice this season, including a brace in Arsenal's 4-2 Carabao Cup win over Ipswich Town. He was left out of England's 2026 World Cup squad but continues to push for a place in Tuchel's long-term plans.

England opens its Nations League campaign against Spain at Wembley on Saturday, September 26, then travels to face Czechia in Prague on September 29 and Croatia in Rijeka on October 3, before hosting Czechia again at Wembley on October 6. Liverpool teenager Rio Ngumoha was already named in the original senior squad announced September 18.
