Only six players in MLB history have posted a 40-40 season, and none has done it twice. Jose Canseco was the first in 1988, followed by Barry Bonds in 1996, Alex Rodriguez in 1998 and Alfonso Soriano in 2006.
Ronald Acuna Jr. joined the club in 2023 with 41 home runs and 73 stolen bases, a performance that earned him an MVP award. Shohei Ohtani then delivered MLB's first 50-50 season in 2024, finishing with 54 home runs and 59 steals.
According to the report, Crow-Armstrong is on track to become the Cubs' first MVP since Kris Bryant, which would also make him, Acuna and Ohtani the only active players in the club who have won the award.
