Report: Five NFL Head Coaches Named on Early Hot Seat Watch

A Week 2 coaching hot seat analysis identifies Todd Bowles, Dan Quinn, Shane Steichen, Aaron Glenn and Jim Harbaugh as coaches facing pressure.

With two weeks of the NFL season complete, a Yahoo Sports analysis has identified five head coaches whose jobs could be in jeopardy this year: Todd Bowles of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Dan Quinn of the Washington Commanders, Shane Steichen of the Indianapolis Colts, Aaron Glenn of the New York Jets and Jim Harbaugh of the Los Angeles Chargers.

Bowles tops the list. The Buccaneers are 2-9 with a minus-60 point differential since their early November 2025 bye, and the report notes the team no longer has veteran leaders Mike Evans and Lavonte David in the locker room. Quinn ranks second, with quarterback Jayden Daniels injured and the analysis projecting a possible 1-5 Washington start before a Week 7 bye.

Steichen's Colts are 0-9 since their Week 11 bye last season with a minus-82 point differential, and the report points to general manager Chris Ballard's expiring contract as a factor. Glenn, in his second season, is credited with an improved defense but criticized for clock management as the Jets fell just short of a 2-0 start against Green Bay.

Harbaugh rounds out the list at 0-2 despite a .665 career winning percentage. The Chargers went 11-6 in each of his first two seasons but lost both wild-card games, and an upcoming stretch against Buffalo, Seattle, Denver, Kansas City, the Rams and Houston has the analysis raising the possibility of an 0-9 start.
