Oregon Wide Receiver Jeremiah McClellan Out with Broken Foot

Ducks coach Dan Lanning says McClellan broke his foot in pregame warmups, while Jamari Johnson and Kendre Harrison could return against USC.

Oregon wide receiver Jeremiah McClellan will be sidelined after breaking his foot in a pregame mishap before last Friday's win over Portland State. Head coach Dan Lanning confirmed the injury Monday, describing the sequence as an unusual one and saying the receiver will be out for a while.

McClellan, who has seven catches for 170 yards and a touchdown this season, warmed up for the Portland State game but was later seen on the sideline in a walking boot and on crutches. He and tight end Jamari Johnson have been primary targets for quarterback Dante Moore this season.

Johnson has not played since being hurt in the season opener against Boise State but was back at practice Monday. Freshman tight end Kendre Harrison, who caught four passes and a touchdown against Portland State before leaving with a lower-body injury, is also trending toward playing.

Lanning said both Johnson and Harrison should increase their practice workload through the week and be available when Oregon visits USC in Los Angeles this weekend. Freshman receiver Messiah Hampton, who caught two touchdowns against Portland State, could see an expanded role while McClellan is out.
