McVay Cracks Joke at Own Expense After Rams Rout Giants

After a 28-6 home win over the New York Giants, Sean McVay poked fun at his own travel planning following the team's rough season opener in Australia.

Los Angeles Rams head coach Sean McVay mocked his own decision-making after his team beat the New York Giants 28-6 at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood on Monday. Speaking at his postgame press conference, he referenced the travel schedule that preceded the team's season-opening loss in Australia.

"Sometimes you have a dumb**s coach that makes travel plans that put you in a bad spot," McVay said, crediting Gilberto Manzano of Sports Illustrated for the remark, before leaving the podium with a smile. The Rams were widely criticized for arriving in Melbourne close to game day ahead of their Week 1 matchup, while the San Francisco 49ers had already been in Australia for several days.

The Rams fell 27-7 to the 49ers in that Melbourne game but looked far sharper at home against New York. Quarterback Matthew Stafford completed 22 of 31 passes for 327 yards and four touchdowns, with one interception.

Wide receiver Davante Adams also bounced back, posting 195 receiving yards and two touchdowns on eight receptions after managing just 26 yards on three catches in Week 1.

The Los Angeles defense limited the Giants to 182 total yards, a performance that came despite New York losing quarterback Jaxson Dart to an early injury.
