Judge's Postseason Availability in Doubt as Red Sox-Yankees Wild Card Series Nears

Aaron Judge is on the injured list with a calf strain and says he has no firm timeline to return ahead of Boston's playoff meeting with New York.

New York Yankees slugger Aaron Judge was placed on the injured list Saturday with a calf strain, leaving his availability for the American League Wild Card Series against the Boston Red Sox uncertain. The move was backdated to Thursday.

Judge told MLB Media's Bryan Hoch that he hopes to be ready when the playoffs begin, noting the 10-day stint on the injured list would run through roughly the final day of the regular season. He added that he has no definitive timeline for a return.

It has been a difficult year for the reigning AL MVP. Judge missed most of the regular season with a fractured rib and is expected to finish with a .241/.360/.511 slash line, 18 home runs and 41 RBIs across 66 games.

Judge did return earlier this month, going 4-for-23 (.174) with one home run over six games after being activated on Sept. 8 before the calf injury set him back again.
