Zechiël returned to Rotterdam this season after loan spells at Sparta Rotterdam and Utrecht and has quickly become a key part of Feyenoord's midfield. He has started all seven of the club's Eredivisie games, recording five goals and four assists, creating 19 chances and completing 89% of his passes.

Feyenoord have indicated they will not sell the Dutchman cheaply. Lille saw a summer bid rejected, with their final offer reported at €17 million including bonuses. Zechiël later confirmed the interest was genuine but said he was happy to stay at the club.
