Mitchell Robinson adjusts to life with Celtics after Knicks tenure

The veteran center says he will miss Madison Square Garden staff but expects competitive, spirited matchups when Boston meets New York.

Center Mitchell Robinson is settling into a new chapter with the Boston Celtics after spending years with the New York Knicks. In a recent interview, he said the move means adjusting to far more than a new system on the court, including leaving behind familiar faces around Madison Square Garden.

Robinson, a Western Kentucky alum, pointed to the arena's staff as what he will miss most about New York. He said he built relationships with security guards and other personnel over many years and plans to greet them again when he returns as a visitor.

Looking ahead to matchups with his former team, Robinson expects an intense atmosphere. He anticipates some cheers from the New York crowd but noted the longstanding rivalry between the two cities will make the games feel unusual.

Robinson added that he has asked himself what he has gotten himself into, but said basketball does not last forever and he intends to enjoy the experience.
