Harrison Wins Girls Golf Sectional; Three Teams Advance to Regional

Harrison shot 336 to win its home sectional Monday, with McCutcheon and West Lafayette also qualifying for Friday's regional at Harrison Hills.

Harrison topped a 12-team field at its own girls golf sectional Monday, shooting 336 to claim first place. McCutcheon finished second at 380 and West Lafayette third at 404. All three teams advanced to the Lafayette Jefferson regional, set for Friday, Sept. 25 at 9 a.m. at Harrison Hills.

Harrison's Nola Painter and Grace Gehlsen shared medalist honors with rounds of 76. West Lafayette's Emily Boaz shot 83 and McCutcheon's Jaylee Gibb an 85, while Harrison's Sydney Gehlsen carded an 87. Central Catholic's Bella Hancock and Lafayette Jeff's Marissa Kennedy (both 94) plus Carroll's Brooklyn Tinsman (95) also moved on as individuals.

In the Attica sectional, Western Boone won with a 353, followed by North Montgomery (390) and Southmont (408). All three qualified for the Lafayette Jeff regional. North Montgomery's Marlee Reed shot 81 and Mallory Inskeep 93. Covington's Aliyah Dean and Emilee Rice each posted 100 to advance individually.

No area team qualified out of the Twin Lakes sectional, but three golfers advanced to the Lake Central regional: Rensselaer Central's Aubrey Geleott (85), Tri-County's Ebba Levin (87) and South Newton's Abigail Arrenholz (96). Rensselaer Central placed fourth with 391.
