Falkirk's Ethan Ross steps up after Calvin Miller departure

The 25-year-old winger has been one of Falkirk's standout performers early in the Premiership season, scoring against St Johnstone.

Falkirk brought in 17 new players over the summer, but it is a returning face, Ethan Ross, who has stood out ahead of the first international break. The 25-year-old scored in last Saturday's match against St Johnstone in an encouraging display.

Ross was an important figure as Falkirk climbed through League One and the Championship, scoring twice on the final night of the Championship-winning season as the club beat Hamilton to clinch the title. His first Premiership campaign was disrupted by a serious injury suffered early on against Livingston.

A full pre-season and a steady run in the starting lineup have helped Ross recapture form. He has taken on the difficult job of replacing Calvin Miller, and against St Johnstone he also drew the foul that led to Cheick Diabate's red card.

Ross has been fouled 19 times so far this Premiership season, the second-highest figure in the division. Alongside his attacking quality, his willingness to track back and defend has added to his value to the team.
