New York's Monday night defeat at SoFi Stadium featured strong showings from Jordan Stout and Jevon Holland but rough nights for the receivers, cornerbacks and offensive line.
Jaxson Dart went down with an apparent knee injury in the opening quarter, and the New York Giants never recovered, falling 28-6 to the Los Angeles Rams on Monday night at SoFi Stadium. The defeat came a week after New York beat Dallas at home. Rookie linebacker Abdul Carter recorded the team's first sack of the season in the second half.
Punter Jordan Stout turned in a standout performance, averaging 52.5 yards across six punts, including a 78-yard boom. Three of his punts were downed inside the 20, and Los Angeles managed only eight yards per return on four chances. Safety Jevon Holland paced New York with eight tackles, five of them solo, and chipped in an interception, two forced fumbles and a fumble recovery.
The wide receivers had a night to forget. Malik Nabers briefly exited with a shoulder injury before returning, finishing with one catch for one yard on four targets, while Odell Beckham Jr. was not thrown to at all. The corners, missing Paulson Adebo and Deonte Banks, had no answer for Davante Adams, who hauled in eight of ten targets for 195 yards and a pair of touchdowns.
Up front, the line was overwhelmed by an Aaron Donald-led Rams front, surrendering two sacks and eight quarterback hits. Dart's knee bent awkwardly when hit by two Los Angeles rushers, and the ground game picked up just 2.5 yards per carry.
