Adams, Stafford Lead Rams Past Giants 28-6 Without Nacua and Garrett

Los Angeles picked up its first win of the season Monday night at SoFi Stadium, with Davante Adams, Matthew Stafford and Trent McDuffie standing out.

The Los Angeles Rams earned their first win of the season on Monday night, beating the New York Giants 28-6 at SoFi Stadium. The victory came without several key players, including wide receiver Puka Nacua, edge rusher Myles Garrett and defensive back Kamren Kinchens.

Wide receiver Davante Adams delivered the standout performance of the night, catching eight passes for 195 yards and two touchdowns, falling 11 yards short of his career high of 206. His receptions included a 31-yard touchdown, a 64-yard deep catch and a 27-yard grab just before halftime.

Quarterback Matthew Stafford completed 22 of 31 passes for 327 yards, four touchdowns and one interception. He spread the ball around, though Adams and tight end Terrance Ferguson combined for 14 of his 22 completions and 249 of his 327 yards.

The defense also stepped up. Cornerback Trent McDuffie recorded four passes defensed and his first interception as a Ram, safety Quentin Lake finished with six tackles, three passes defensed and a forced fumble, and edge rusher Byron Young added five tackles, a sack and three quarterback hits while facing both Jaxson Dart and Jameis Winston at quarterback for New York.

Not everything went smoothly. Punt returner Xavier Smith lost two yards on one return, muffed a kickoff to open the third quarter and did not record a catch. Kicker Harrison Mevis missed a 43-yard field goal late in the first half, and the Rams later chose to punt rather than attempt a 56-yard kick.
