Toronto lost rookie outfielder Brett Bateman during the game. The team announced he was removed with right hip discomfort and that precautionary x-rays were negative for a fracture.
According to Blue Jays reporter Keegan Matheson, manager John Schneider said Bateman's right hip is tender but the team does not believe his ankle or knee was injured.
