Arsenal Close Summer Window Without Marquee Attacker

Arsenal added Christos Tzolis, Bruno Guimarães and Ezri Konsa but missed out on several forward targets as the transfer window shut.

Arsenal ended the summer transfer window without the high-profile forward they had pursued. After initially targeting Morgan Rogers, the club turned its attention to Vinícius Júnior of Real Madrid once Rogers joined Chelsea, but Vinícius instead committed to a new contract with the Spanish side.

A late approach for Julián Alvarez also came to nothing, with the Atlético Madrid striker making clear he had no intention of moving to north London in the closing days of the window. Arsenal chose not to spend on an alternative.

The window had started promisingly for Mikel Arteta's side, with Christos Tzolis, Bruno Guimarães and Ezri Konsa among the arrivals. Outgoings included Gabriel Jesus, who left for Barcelona, and Ethan Nwaneri, who joined Borussia Dortmund.

Gabriel Martinelli is expected to complete a move to Al-Hilal in the coming days, as the Saudi Pro League window remains open beyond the Premier League deadline. If that transfer goes through, Arsenal could find their attacking options stretched thin should injuries strike.
