UConn Superfan 'Little Red' to Walk 62 Miles to Huskies Exhibition

Harry Blethen plans a two-day walk from Bloomfield to Mohegan Sun Arena before UConn's Oct. 13 exhibition against Syracuse, raising money for the Husky Ticket Project.

UConn men's basketball superfan Harry Blethen, known as 'Little Red,' plans to walk 62 miles from Bloomfield to Mohegan Sun Arena ahead of the Huskies' season-opening exhibition against Syracuse on Oct. 13.

Blethen announced the trek on X, saying he wants to build on last year's effort while raising money for the Husky Ticket Project, which provides children in Connecticut the chance to attend UConn sporting events.

Last season, Blethen walked 44 miles to a UConn game against Creighton in Storrs, raising more than $12,000. That walk came after coach Dan Hurley criticized the home crowd following a 79-75 win over Georgetown at Gampel Pavilion on Feb. 14.

Former UConn players Ryan Boatright and Donovan Clingan were among the largest donors to last year's fundraiser, and the walk drew national attention with a feature on ESPN's SC+ broadcast.

Blethen, an Enfield High School graduate, will spread the 62-mile distance over two days after the single-day walk last season left him physically worn down. He has set a $15,000 donation target on GoFundMe for this year's effort.
