Three Michigan Girls Up for Free Press Athlete of the Week

Two volleyball players and one field hockey player are finalists for the Detroit Free Press Girls Athlete of the Week for Sept. 14-20.

Three Michigan high school athletes are up for the Detroit Free Press Girls Athlete of the Week, with two volleyball players and one field hockey player among the finalists for performances from the week of Sept. 14-20. Voting closes Thursday, Sept. 24, at 3 p.m.

Kaelyn Easton, a sophomore setter at Farmington Hills Mercy, helped guide her team to a 3-1 volleyball win over Orchard Lake St. Mary's on Sept. 16 with 36 assists and 10 digs.

Audrey Koory, a freshman forward for Birmingham United field hockey, scored six goals combined in victories over Grand Blanc and West Bloomfield.

Leah McCulloch, a senior middle hitter at Bishop Foley, led her team through six matches during the week with 48 kills, 33 service points and 12 digs.
