Brazil Women's Staff Scouting Brasileirão A1 Semis Ahead of Argentina Friendlies

Coaching staff members are attending Brasileirão Feminino A1 semifinals before naming the squad for two October friendlies against Argentina.

The Brazilian Women's National Team is finalizing preparations for its upcoming friendlies against Argentina, with head coach Arthur Elias set to unveil his squad on Tuesday, September 22, at CBF headquarters in Rio de Janeiro. Ahead of that announcement, members of his staff have been taking in the Brasileirão Feminino A1 semifinals in person.

Analyst Cristian Lizana watched from Brinco de Ouro in Campinas on Saturday, September 19, as São Paulo edged Flamengo 1-0 in the second leg to book a place in the final, which is set for October 3. Elias himself will be at Neo Química Arena in São Paulo on Monday, September 21, for Corinthians versus Bahia. Corinthians lead that tie 1-0 from the first leg.

Elias said video review covers every fixture, but attending games live makes it easier to evaluate details such as how players communicate and what they intend to do on the ball. Lizana added that observing the league's decisive matches exposes players to high-pressure situations and helps those competing in Brazil stay ready for international play.

The scouting trips sit within a broader CBF program that uses gaps between FIFA windows to stay connected with players' routines and club medical staffs. Between August and September, national team coaches and health personnel visited clubs in Minas Gerais, São Paulo, France, and both coasts of the United States.

Once announced, the squad will prepare for the meeting with Argentina on October 10 at Beira-Rio in Porto Alegre, followed by a second fixture on October 13 at Arena de Pernambuco in the Recife area. The roster reveal will be streamed on CBF TV. Since taking over in September 2023, Elias has selected 99 players, just over half of them based at Brazilian clubs.
