Barcelona are preparing an official ceremony to mark Andreas Christensen's contract renewal, according to MARCA. The 30-year-old centre-back signed a two-year extension on 1 July, keeping him at the club until 2028 after his previous deal was set to expire on 30 June.
Christensen has dealt with repeated injury problems during his time in Spain. He missed 36 matches across three separate issues last season and was absent for 50 games over two injuries in the 2024-25 campaign.
After appearing in seven matches this season, the Denmark international suffered muscular discomfort in his quadriceps during Barcelona's recent match against Sevilla, where he started but had to be substituted. The injury is expected to sideline him for close to two months.
Despite his fitness troubles, Barcelona chose to extend his contract, and the player opted to stay even with other offers on the table. No date has been set for the ceremony, though the club intends to hold it before the planned events for Marc Bernal and Xavi Espart, whose renewals are in their final stages.
