Browns QB Shedeur Sanders Hands Out 500 Backpacks at East Cleveland Schools

The second-year quarterback visited Kirk Middle School and Caledonia Elementary ahead of Cleveland's home opener against Carolina.
Cleveland Browns quarterback Shedeur Sanders visited students in the East Cleveland School District on Monday, ahead of the team's Week 3 home game against the Carolina Panthers at Huntington Bank Field.
Sanders stopped at W. H. Kirk Middle School and Caledonia Elementary, where he gave away 500 backpacks filled with school supplies. The giveaway was done in partnership with Chase Bank, Pizza Hut and the Pizza Hut BOOK IT! program, and students also received Pizza Hut food and ice cream from Pammy's. "I'm just doing what I'm called here to do by God, honestly," Sanders told Fox 8 Cleveland's Kiara Patterson. He said he enjoys visiting places others might avoid to show a positive side of East Cleveland and other parts of the city.
Sanders has not appeared in a game for the Browns this season. Deshaun Watson has started the first two weeks and is expected to start against Carolina.
Cleveland selected Sanders in the fifth round of the 2025 draft out of Colorado. As a rookie, he threw for 1,400 yards with seven touchdowns and 10 interceptions.
